Dr Uche Okere:

Many online courses never sell, but what if I told you that there is a simple way to create a course that people will beg to buy from you? It's not about how much content you include in your course. It's not about how many modules or topics are included in your course and how voluminous it is. It's not about how fanciful your video production is. The secret is understanding one thing very simply, people do not buy courses, people buy solutions to their biggest problems and in the next few minutes, I'm going to show you exactly how to create a course that sells like crazy. Stick around till the end because I'll also reveal my number one formula for making any course an instant bestseller. So let's dive in. If this is your first time on the channel, my name is Uche Okere. I am a pastor. I am also a university academic, and I'm a coach who helps people align what they do for money with God's purposes for their lives. As a university academic, I've been involved in online course creation for over a decade. So I understand how courses sell. I understand what makes a course tick. I understand what makes people buy courses and I've seen courses that have failed. I've created some that succeeded and did very well, were very impactful and profitable. I've also been involved in the creation of some that did not go very well. You may be wondering if you are not involved in course creation already, why should you be thinking about creating a course? So why create a course? I'm going to give you a couple of reasons why you should seriously consider creating a course, because I believe everybody has something to teach. Number one reason you want to think about creating a course is for impact. Create a course because you want to make impact. Now, if you've watched any of my other videos or listen to my podcast, you know, I talk a lot about purpose. And one of the big things about purpose is impact. Purpose is the thing that defines success. If you are not fulfilling your purpose, if you are not pursuing your purpose, if you are not living the life that answers the question of the why of your creation, then your life is sadly, a failure, you cannot be successful outside of God's purpose for your life and your purpose is defined by a number of things and one of them is impact. Your purpose is about touching people's lives. Your purpose cannot be removed from the impact that you make on people's lives, no matter what your specific purpose is,, it must be linked to the difference that you make in other people's lives. And of all the many ways that you can make a difference in people's lives, creating a course gives you an opportunity to solve problems in people's lives. Courses are impactful, especially online courses for a number of reasons. First of all, people complete online courses more than, for example, they complete books that they buy. Here's a fun fact. The completion rate of books is around 10%. So 10 percent of people who buy books actually read those books and complete them. But for a structured course, a well put together course, the completion rate is over 60%. Think about that. So more than 60 percent of people who buy online courses that are put together properly, actually go ahead to complete those online courses Now, as a result of that, courses are therefore more impactful than books because people actually engage with the resources because people do the things that they are encouraged to do or taught to do through the courses, they get more results. So courses are much more impactful than books. So if you want to make a difference in people's lives, if you have a desire in your heart to actually touch people, if there's a challenge you've seen in the world and you want to contribute to the solution to that challenge, you want to be an answer to a question, to a problem, then one of the ways you can begin to do that is by creating a course, because courses provide you an excellent opportunity to make an impact in people's lives. Another reason why you may want to consider creating a course is for increased income. Online courses are very profitable. Data out there suggests that about 90 percent of online courses are profitable because people are buying courses continuously. In fact, the E-learning market, the online learning market, is set to hit$375 billion by 2026. Think about that.$375 billion by 2026. So there's a lot to go around. So if you have something to teach, in fact, I believe if you are watching this video, you do have something to teach. There is something you can help somebody with, there is a place you've been in life and have come out of. There's a journey you've been on that someone else is going through, and you can help them through your experience, through your knowledge, and through your passion, help them go on that similar journey. So if you can do that, if you're willing to do that, then you can become a partaker. You can share a little bit of this$375 billion e-learning online market. There's never been a better time to package your expertise, package your experience, package your knowledge, package your passions into a profitable online course. So these are two reasons why you should seriously consider creating a course because you want to make a difference in people's lives. I've met people who I meet in my coaching business who want to make a difference, but they don't know where to start. For example, I met a lady a few weeks ago her desire is to help children on the autism spectrum and she created a product. She created an odd socks product, but it wasn't selling very well. The solution I said to her was to begin with an information product. Begin with a course. Begin to demonstrate your expertise. Begin to demonstrate your knowledge. Begin to demonstrate your passion through a course. Let people know what you know about this challenge and about this solution. Even big brands these days are involved in the online learning e learning space. YouTube is the second largest search engine in the world. And even if these videos are free on here, you don't necessarily have to pay for them. The fact that there are millions of views. On YouTube is a testament to the fact that people are hungry for knowledge. People want to learn. People have challenges and problems that they need solutions to. But one unique thing about online courses is that they are designed for transformation and not just for information. So that even if there is a lot of information out there, people still need someone to give them a step by step process to get to the solution that they are looking for. So if you want to create a course that people will buy, these are the things that you need. to do. This is how you create an online course that people will buy. Rule number one is that your course must solve a painful problem. If you want to create a course that people will buy a course that will be profitable so that you can make impact in people's lives. Because if people don't buy the course, they don't have a way of accessing the knowledge and the expertise that you've packaged in the course. So the first thing is that your course must solve a painful problem. People don't buy courses. People buy solutions to their real problems. One key reason anybody would buy your course is because it will solve a real. problem for them. Not an imaginary problem. Not one that you think is a problem. Not one that you have experienced and is so unique to you that no other person is experiencing it. It has to be a problem that real people out there in the real world. Ordinary everyday people are experiencing and not every problem is equal. The problem must be painful enough for people to be willing to invest in a solution to that problem. I once heard the story of a man who was walking his dog and he met another man who was also walking his dog and the second man's dog was sitting and while the two men were talking, once in a while, the dog that was sitting will start whining, was making some funny sounds as if he was in pain and the first man said to him, why is your dog whining? It sounds uncomfortable. And he said, Well, don't worry about it. He's fine. He's he's all right. He's gonna be fine. And after some time, the dog continues making this sound. And at about the third time of asking, the second man responds to the question and says, Oh, the reason he's making that sound is because he's sitting on a nail. And the first man was bemused and he said to him, help him up then. Help him, he's suffering. Help him stand up from the nail. And the man responds to him and says, oh no, no, there's no need to do that. He's sitting on his nail. When it becomes painful enough, he will know to stand up from the nail. What's the point? There are problems that people are experiencing. They are aware of the problem, but it's just not painful enough yet for them to do anything about it. If your course will be successful, if your course will sell, if people will put their hands in their pockets and pay for your course, it has to address a real painful problem that is painful enough for people not to sit down on the nail continuously. It has to be a nail that is painful enough that people want to do something about it. The solution that you provide therefore to this painful problem must be tangible. It must be something that people can relate to. It mustn't be some form of pie in the sky solution, dressed in some form of flowery Intangible language. It must be something that is tangible that somebody will be able to identify when they have that solution. Just like the problem is clear. The problem is painful. I want to be able to communicate better. For example, I want to increase my income. For example, I want to be able to relate better with my spouse. For example, these are tangible real problems. The solution Also has to be clear. Now talking about painful problems and real solutions. Human problems have been broadly classified into three very broadly classified into health problems, wealth problems and relationship problems. And it's very, very likely that if you want to solve a problem, a real problem that people are facing, that problem will fall into one of these three categories. For example, on the health, you might want to create a course based on your proficiency and your passion and your expertise around weight loss. So people who want to lose weight in a particular way, can you package some knowledge and expertise to help them. What about people who have a problem with sleeping? Can you help people sleep better? Can you help people boost their energy? Can you help people with their emotional health? For example, can you help people with any health challenge? Obviously, for some health issues, you may need to have some professional qualifications and be sure that you're meeting all the relevant laws and regulations for you to be able to provide a course in the right way. And then there are problems on wealth. Now, generally, this is about making money. This is about growing your business. This is about getting promoted in your job or getting that first job or landing that first job or being able to save. You might have a unique angle to a problem around money and wealth, this is an area that people have challenges in and if you can provide a solution in that area, you're very, very likely to help people. What about relationships? Relationships is a massive one. Can you help people find love? Can you help them improve their confidence? you can talk about communication. You can talk about so many other things that are related to relationship. the bigger the pain that your course addresses, the easier it will be to sell. So do you want to create a course that people will buy a course that will be profitable and impactful? Your starting point is to identify a real painful problem. The second rule of creating a profitable course, of course, that people would buy that will fly off the shelves is that a transformation that you provide must be clear and tangible. Now, I've already alluded to this while talking about the problem, But consider this. People do not buy knowledge. There's an abundance of knowledge in our world. there's knowledge everywhere. There's virtually nothing you cannot learn or study on YouTube. So people are not looking for knowledge. because they can find knowledge anywhere, but people are looking for tangible. results. So for example, instead of providing a course on confidence, for example, why not do something that helps people speak with confidence in 30 days, even if you hate public speaking, that's tangible, that's measurable. That's something that people will know when they've achieved it. So if you want to create a course that will sell, you have to make the outcome clear. If someone reads your course title and still doesn't know, What the result it rewrite it. You have to keep going over that course title until it is clear that when someone reads it for the first time, they know what exactly it is that you are offering. I once created coaching program around helping people fulfill their purpose through a business. But even if I was getting clients, even if it was relatively successful, it wasn't as successful as it could be until I began to listen more to the people who I was talking to the people who I was serving and I realized that I needed to zero into a unique solution that I provided and it was when I started talking to people about creating courses about helping them create purpose driven courses and not just everybody but believers in Jesus Christ, people who have a faith in Jesus, people who have learned some principles from the word of God and want to help people with those principles that have learned from the word of God. That was when I began to see some real significant traction in people who wanted my help, people who were buying my course and people who were signing up to my coaching program. So you've got to do the same, continue rewriting the topic, continue rewriting the title until it's so clear that when somebody reads your course title, they will know exactly what it is they are getting when and if they buy your course. Rule number three of creating a course that will be successful, that people will buy is that it has to solve a problem that people are already searching for. You have to solve a problem that people are already searching for. There's no point creating a course that solves a problem that may be a real problem, but nobody is looking for that solution. For example, would you rather sell water to someone who is dying of thirst or try to convince someone they might be thirsty later? Clearly you want to sell to someone who is waiting for you to provide some water for them. Someone who is thirsty, someone who is praying daily. One of the things that gives me so much joy is when people see my ads on social media and they book a call with me. I'm one of the first things they say when they come to the call is in fact, there was, there was someone who came on the call and literally said, I've just yesterday I was praying for God to send me help in this area of my life. I needed some direction in my purpose. I needed to know what exactly to do. And so when I saw your ad today on Facebook, I knew it was an answer to my prayers. What an excellent thing to be involved in to know that the thing that you're doing is providing a solution to a problem that people are already searching for. So your best course ideas are already in demand. And that's the truth. The thing that you can create that people will buy is already out there. People are already looking for them. People are already looking for them. We live in a digital age and Google and Amazon and Reddit and Quora are excellent ways to begin to research questions that people are already asking. For example, if you go to Google and type how to, for example, in my case, my passion is around purpose and my expertise is in the academia around creating courses and speaking and around all of those areas. So if I go to Google, for example, and type how to, find your purpose or fulfill your purpose. So many things come up for me and I begin to look through all of those and see the ones that align with my heart. Google will suggest to you the things that people are already searching for. So why don't you do that today? If you're passionate about marriage, if you're passionate about parenting, if you want to help people overcome trauma, if you want to help people sleep better, for example, go to Google and search for the things that people are already looking for. You are likely to succeed. In fact, your chances of succeeding are very high if you manage to create a course that people are already looking for. Also, Amazon book titles. are an excellent way to know the titles that people are reading. So why don't you look at the best selling book titles in your niche? All right. What's your niche? is it relationships? Is it health? Of course it has to be more specific in those areas. Look at the best selling titles in those areas. What do they address? What are people looking for? But you have to be careful also because there are topics that are seasonal. Of course, at the start of the year, for example, more people are likely to be reading books around goal setting around success, but you don't want to be a one trick pony. You don't want to create a course that only sells at one time of the year. You want to create a course that is relatively in high demand across the year. So it has to be a real problem that people are experiencing throughout the year. So these are three rules that you must pay attention to, if you want to create a course that everybody wants to buy. And to simplify it as I wrap up, here's my simple formula of creating a course that sells like crazy. You ready? Very simply. This is it. Problem plus urgency plus clear results equals a sold out course. It has to be a real problem. It has to be an urgent problem that people are looking for solutions to right now. And there has to be a clear solution to that problem. If you manage to structure your course, obeying these rules, you are guaranteed that your course will be a success. So why don't you go away this week and think about a problem that people are really experiencing. You want to be a person of impact. You want to be a person who fulfills your purpose because that is a definition of success. So begin to think about a problem that you can be a solution to. What are the problems that you have experienced? What are the things that you have gained knowledge in? That can be a pointer to how you can help people quit thinking just about yourself obsess over other people's problems. Think about it so much that you understand the problems better than the people who experience it. That is how you can provide solutions for them. God bless you. Bye bye.
